Notes for Relulctant Fundamentalist Literary Analysis:
1. Should be typed, double-spaced and following paper format (see Tech Tips)
2. Upload final copy into turnitin.com by next Monday at the latest (9/29/08); I encourage you to upload it ahead of time. Turn in a hard copy to me by Monday or Tuesday (A Day/B Day) in class of next week.
3. Your final should be at least 1.5 pages typed and no longer than 3 pages typed.
4. Edit, edit, edit carefully.
5. Include your rough draft with your final paper.
6. I am specifically assessing for FOCUS. How well do you establish a focus in your paper and maintain that focus (thesis with bite, topic and concluding sentences in paragraphs, transitions, overall cohesiveness). Use the state rubric to look at the criteria for focus.
Two Revision Strategies for your paper:
1. Revise the places you marked as weakened focus in your paper when you "walked" out your composition. Remember, good writing moves forward.
2. Substitute at least 5 of the "cooking" verbs into your paper to make it more cohesive and tighten the focus through common diction. Vivid verbs also energize your writing.
